Seeking Peace

Dappled sunlight fell on creamy shoulders as Salinaress rested. Her long sinuous tail curled beneath her as she leaned back against the rough bark of the tree behind her. The silence here was so soothing, if a bit lonely. A melancholy smile graced her lips and quickly faded away.
Alone. Always alone. Thousands of years she had lived, and most of it in solitude. Cursed sight! But, at least in the wilds, she was free to unleash her gaze, fearing that none would die because of it. And yet, she was so lonesome. So very much in need of a kind word, a friend, a lover...

Adrian was walking through the Cumulus forest as always completely aimless, just searching for the next city and start the business. Now he was just wandering searching for anything of interest through the forest.
After walking for a while, Adrian fell on floor hardly cause of a rock or probably anything else, although it was not a rock, not even a fallen branch of a tree, it was an enormous snake tail. When he raised his head, he saw in front of him, at the top of the snake tail, the body of a woman, a really beautiful woman to tell the truth, but for some reason she looked sad, even with the eyes blinded. Adrian got up and cleaned a little bit his jacket of ground. Then he approached his movile bar ready to take it again and restart the way.
"Excuse me, it won't happen again. Tell me, is there any problem that make you look so worried? By the way, sorry for being so rude, my name is Adrian"
Adrian finally knew what was the being in front of him, a basilisc.

Waking from the deep slumber she had gone into at the pain of something heavy falling on her, Salinaress came alert to the sound of something near her. Or rather make that someone. Heavy steps thudding around made her think of a giant clumsy bull.
Though Salinaress had not expected to meet anyone way out here, another person's presence was a welcome change. As was the kind words spoken in her direction. "It was nothing, I am undamaged. And there is no problem...unless you consider loneliness a problem." Curling her tail a little closer to her body, she turned her face towards the voice that had addressed her. "If you don't mind, would you sit and converse with me awhile? It has been some time since I have had any company to speak of."

Adrian looked at Salinaress a little funny in his inside. Usually anyone asked him to stay and converse, although Adrian loved to talk about policy. But living in a forest he doubted that the basilisc knew too much about the policy in the actual world, so for now he was going to skip his favorite conversation theme. He sat down leaving the bar a few feets away. Adrian never used to be so confident with strangers, but he was going to make an exception. He crossed his arms and leaned against a tree. "Excuse me, can I know your name please? As said, my name's Adrian, and I'm the waiter of that piece of trash. By the way, I'm a beetle."

Startlement spread across her features at he lack of courtesey. "Oh! Please forgive my rudeness. I am called Salinaress, a Basilisque A beetle? My apologies, but you don't sound like any insect that I have ever heard." Gesturing with an inquiring hand she continued, "Sir, what piece of offal do you speak of? There is no foul odor nearby... at least not that I can detect." As she spoke, a dark thinly forked tongue flickered within the confines of her coral mouth, taking in the scent of sun warmed earth and the male now sitting across from her.
"Excuse me for inquiring, but how did you come to this remote place, and for what reason? I know that my solitude is self-imposed, but is more for the sake of others than for myself." Smile slowly fading from her face at this thought, she turned her face once again towards the ever-warm, ever-loving sun.

"Well, I'm here cause it's my job more or less. As said, I'm the waiter of that bar there. It's like a little wooden room with wheels. Really, it's like making marketing. You know, not everyone in the world has a movile bar to from city to city. That gives one or two points of popularity. I just walk around to place my bar at the next town, and if by the way I know of a treasure or something near my way, I also take and that's two more popularity points. And well, I'm a furre, so I'm a big beetle that talks and all the stuff. By the way, I also win a few bucks with street fighting." He approached at Salinaress and sat leaning against his tail, pretty more comfortable than the tree. "Sorry, does that disturb you?"

Responding to the last question first, Mireille answered kindly, "No, Sir Adrian, it is not bothersome at all. It is very admirable that you own your own business, and a traveling one at that. You must enjoy your life very much."
Shifting her coils to better support the comforting weight now leaning on her, she continued speaking. "I cannot say that I approve of violence, especially if it is just for entertainment and currency. I have been involved to much in the use of it, greatly to my sorrow. But I am not one to lecture another on their choices, so I shall ask you a different question. In all your travels, though you must see many wonders of the world, do you not miss anyone? Your family perhaps, or a close loved one."

"Mmmh... Miss anyone? Well, I'm probably one of the oldest creatures in the world, I'm from the end of the Era of Technologia, so all my family must have forgotten me or even his lineage can have disappeared from Sungaea." Then he scratched his head and tried to explain better his fights in the streets: "And well, I don't aprove random and brutal violence either, but I love to fight with people of my level. And it's also a good protection, in this places you meet the worst scum in the city, and the royal guard surely knows that I'm against the monarchy, but they leave me alone that way. I'm not of those that think that everything must be did with violence, but it can be useful at times, I mean the strenght, not the violence."
